Over the weekend, the Rush had Ogden City come down and play the final two games of the season. Friday night had an intense showcase, with both teams firing all cylinders, many great plays, a relentless attack force, strong defense displayed by Billy Jones & company, and yet another great performance by Cooper Erickson to save the day once again. It wasn’t enough for either team to pull out anything, but a goalless draw.  Leaving it all down to the final game on Sunday.

Sunday was a whole different story; it was as if the Colorado Rush was rejuvenated in some form. The game was very promising as we saw the game go 4-1 in the first half. Two braces rained in by Guilherme Alencar & Jerry Gutierrez to take the lead. The game was still very much intense towards the second half with both teams trying to find the back of the net. Maxi Hopfer was the one who put the nail into the coffin as he scored the 5th goal, putting the Rush at the top of the table with a goal advantage of +1. At this point, it was now a waiting game for the results from the 18th for Ogden City versus Park City Red Wolves. Both teams still had two games in hand, so the odds were very much stacked.

Overall through the weekend, there was a great amount of support from the fans, the supporter’s group, the staff, and as well as a big thank you to the Flatirons Dance Studio & Next Level for coming out and putting out performances for the games. The Rush has done well to put a fight out this season. There was a big push to see Ogden City holding back the Red Wolves, then the fight would continue in the play-offs. Unfortunately, the Rush will not advance to the next round, as Park City Red Wolves beat Ogden City 4-3 last night. On the bright side of things, the team can walk away proudly knowing that they left all of their blood, sweat, and tears on the field. Oh how the game can be an ugly mistress sometimes, but that's the way the game is sometimes.
