USL W League’s Bornkamp, Madril called up to U.S. U-23 National Team

TAMPA, Fla. – Two USL W League players have been called up to the United States U-23 Women’s Youth National Team. Greenville Liberty SC’s Megan Bornkamp and Racing Louisville FC’s Emily Madril will travel to Sweden to play friendlies against India on June 25 and Sweden on June 28. Both Bornkamp and Madril were selected for the W League’s Team of the Month for May.  

Pegged one of the W League’s 15 Players to Watch this season, Clemson defender Bornkamp has appeared in five matches for the Liberty in the inaugural W League season. The Liberty are currently undefeated in league play through the halfway point of the season, sitting atop the South Atlantic Division. Bornkamp has tallied four goals and an assist so far in the 2022 campaign. 

Two-time NCAA National Champion Madril has had a storied career at Florida State University and has brought that experience to Racing Louisville. With only one loss on the season, Louisville has emerged as a strong contender in the W League’s Great Lakes Division with five wins and two draws this season. Madril has appeared in all eight contests for the side, totaling three goals and an assist from the backline.  

Greenville Liberty and Racing Louisville both have matches this weekend with the Liberty taking on Wake FC on Saturday night at 6 p.m. ET and Louisville traveling to Indy Eleven’s Grand Park facility on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET for a top-two clash in the Great Lakes Division on ElevenSports.com.
