Top five spots reshuffle as teams start clinching playoff berths

The same five teams make up the top spots of this weeks USL W League Power Rankings, however Minnesota Aurora FC moves into the second spot right behind the perfect McLean Soccer. Morris Elite SC moves up to the third place spot after another victory over the weekend. Greenville Liberty SC takes fourth after recording its second draw of the season and rounding out the top five is Indy Eleven, who is no stranger to the top five on the Power Rankings.

Minnesota Aurora FC has steadily moved up the Power Rankings all season. The club finds itself in the second-place spot after an impressive last home-stand. Aurora has three road matches to finish the season – including two matches against Green Bay Glory, who is the only team Minnesota has dropped points to all season.

Morris Elite SC is coming off a 5-0 victory over the weekend, making it the team’s sixth shutout of the season. Lauren Wrigley secured a brace in the affair, bringing her total goals scored to seven on the season. Morris Elite still have four matches to finish the season, with a huge regular season finale against Queensboro FC on July 9.

Greenville Liberty SC dropped points for the first time in almost a month when the team played in a hard-fought draw against NC Courage U23. Still without a loss this season, Greenville has three matches remaining including one tonight, which with a win, could clinch a playoff spot.

Indy Eleven did not have a match this weekend, but the club is still undefeated through nine. The team has only three matches left in the season including two against Detroit City. Katie Soderstrom and Madison Williams both have seven goals on the season for Indy.

Week 8: v. FC Miami City
Tampa Bay United has been decisive in its last four matches, outscoring opponents 11-0. However, the team’s biggest hurdle lies ahead when Tampa hosts FC Miami City this Friday. The match will most likely decide who will be the winner of the Southeast Division. Tampa has only lost a single game all season and it was to FC Miami City – so this match up should be a good one.

South Georgia Tormenta FC are coming off a massive 8-1 victory over Tennessee SC, putting the team one point ahead of divisional rivals Chattanooga Red Wolves. These top two teams compete tonight, Tuesday, June 28 in what could be one of the deciding factors in who wins the South Central Division.
