Wisconsin-based club will create opportunities for pre-professional players

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Today the USL announced that Bavarian United SC will be the latest club to join USL League Two and the USL W League in the 2023 season.

“We are excited that young players in our club and in our community now have something to work towards as they dream about stepping on to the pitch and playing in the top pre-professional environment in the country,” Steve Morris, executive director of Bavarian United SC, said. “We aim to build a program that represents our club values and is ambitious and competitive from day 1 of our inaugural season.”

The club’s mission is to develop intelligent players through a holistic coaching philosophy and curriculum. They hope to maximize every player’s tactical and technical potential, to teach players to be problem-solvers both in and out of games.

“Bavarian United has a long history in the men’s pre-professional space,” Joel Nash, USL VP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, said. “This is a club that knows how to change lives, and to give players a real opportunity to succeed. That’s something we can definitely align with.”

Bavarian United was founded in 1929, under the name Fussball Club Bayern. The club changed its name in 1956 after moving into a new facility to Bavarian Soccer Club. It introduced a women’s pathway program in 2011, and merged with nearby Inter Northshore FC a decade later to form Bavarian United Soccer Club.

The club’s notable alumni include former US Men’s National Team head coach Bob Gansler and former US Men’s National Team player Jimmy Banks.

This expansion continues USL’s growing footprint in Wisconsin under the success of Forward Madison in USL League One and the plans for USL Championship expansion through Milwaukee Pro Soccer. League Two’s continued growth in the state gives college-age, pre-professional players the opportunity to showcase their ability, aiming for a future with those professional clubs, or others across the world.
