7 New Players to Watch this Season

The 2023 W League season will have some familiar faces take the pitch, however, this season you can also expect to see some high-caliber players compete, from former pros to collegiate standouts, the W League will be a showcase of incredible talent. 

Check out these seven new players to watch this season! 

Elise Evans – SF Glens SC 

Announced earlier this year as the SF Glens’ first-ever W League player, the Stanford defender will take her talents to the NorCal Division this season after a highly decorated freshman season with the Cardinals. Evans has also been a regular call-up in the USYNT player pools from the U15-U20 age groups over the last few years. 

Ilana Izquierdo – Asheville City SC 

Asheville City has actively been recruiting talent from across the country, having recently announced Ilana Izquierdo, a Colombian National Team regular who represented her country in the U17 and U20 FIFA Women’s World Cups. Izquierdo spent her first two collegiate seasons at the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned numerous conference honors before transferring to Mississippi State this coming fall.  

Mariah Lee – Oly Town FC 

The Stanford and Wake Forest alum has spent the last few years playing professionally overseas in Spain as well as other countries. Lee is returning stateside to play for Oly Town FC in the Northwest Division this summer, after being a part of OL Reign’s 2023 preseason roster. Lee’s collegiate and pro experience will be a huge asset for the Artesians in their first W League season. 

Maya Doms – Cal Storm 

Doms, another highly decorated Stanford player, will take the pitch with Cal Storm this season in the club’s first W League campaign. The Cardinal midfielder also has national team experience, having featured with the US U23’s and with the U17’s at the World Cup in 2018.  

Tianna Harris – Minnesota Aurora FC 

Aurora has their sights set on returning to the W League Final this year, and the club has been busy adding high caliber players to its squad. Harris is an exciting addition, as the Kent State defender was named to the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in fall 2022 and accumulated numerous other honors and accolades as well. 

Teresa “T” Noyola – Oakland Soul SC 

Oakland’s roster has a blend of talented youth and experienced veterans, with Noyola being one of the latter. The Mexican international’s storied career includes a MAC Hermann Trophy, 6-years playing professionally in the U.S. and abroad and was a member of Mexico’s 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup squads. 

Nia Christopher – Eagle FC 

Eagle FC has revamped their roster going into season two, adding Bermuda National Team forward Nia Christopher to their ranks. The Towson Tiger has earned numerous accolades and recognition from her collegiate play and has already cemented her name in the program’s record books.
