SF Glens 4-0 start land them at #1 in first Power Rankings of the season

The 2023 W League season is off to a fantastic start and the 15 teams below have impressed in the first couple weeks of play. 

SF Glens takes the top spot after an impressive 4-0 start and Indy Eleven, Tampa Bay United, NC Courage U23, and Racing Louisville FC round out the top five.

Tampa Bay United has gotten off to a hot start, starting the season unbeaten through three matches. Carissa Boeckman netted a hattrick in the teams’ 6-1 victory over Swan City, bringing her total goals this season to four. Tampa will host expansion-side Palm City Americanas in Tampa for a midweek match up Wednesday, May 24.

NC Courage

NC Courage forwards Isabella Brown and Olivia Lebdaoui have accounted for half of the team’s eight goals in their first two matches. The Courage downed Wake FC 5-1 and shutout Charlotte Independence 3-0. The Courage will now face Asheville City SC home and away.

Racing Louisville FC
2-0-0 vs. Kings Hammer FC

Racing Louisville has two shutout victories in their pocket as the team enters into week three of play. Scoring dup Brooke Dardano and Jordyn Rhodes both have two goals for Louisville. Up next, Racing will meet old foe Kings Hammer FC on May 31.

FC Miami City

FC Miami City defeated Palm City Americanas, Miami AC, and Florida Elite Soccer Academy to start the season. Jodi Smith currently leads the club with two goals scored across the three matchups. Up next the two Miami clubs will face off once again.

Bavarian United SC

Expansion-side Bavarian United has opened their season with a 4-0 victory against RKC Third Coast and a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Rochester FC. Cate Cullison leads Bavarian in goals scored with two. Up next, the Milwaukee-based club will take on Green Bay Glory.

Flint City AFC made a statement in their first match of the season when the team scored 5 incredible goals against AFC Ann Arbor. Since then, Flint played to two draws against a very strong Detroit City and added a 2-1 victory over Midwest United. A rematch against AFC Ann Arbor this Friday is next on the schedule for Flint.

Expansion-side Oakland Soul came out looking strong, besting Stockton Cargo in a hard-fought 3-2 victory, and a 1-0 victory over the Olympic Club. Cecilia Gee leads Soul in scoring with two goals so far on the season. Up next, Soul will host Academic SC on Sunday, May 28.

Morris Elite SC has had two strong showings to kick off the 2023 season. The New Jersey-based side overpowered Manhattan SC 6-1 and shutout AC Connecticut 5-0. Melina Rebimbas leads the club with four goals scored. Up next, Morris Elite travel to face Westchester Flames this Saturday.
