Will serve as the preferred Domestic Scouting Network across USL properties with initial focus on League Two, W League

TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League today announced a new partnership with The Soccer Syndicate, which will serve as the preferred Domestic Scouting Network for all USL properties.

Starting with the 2023 season, The Soccer Syndicate will be the presenting partner of the USL League Two Scouting Network. Founded in 2018, The Soccer Syndicate has built a national network of scouts led by experienced USL Championship executive Scott Rezendes which has delivered clients unmatched insights and scouting reports on top pre-professional players at the college and academy levels.

“This partnership will enhance the connection between USL League Two and clubs in the USL Championship and USL League One and continue to build the Path2Pro model,” said Joel Nash, USL Senior Vice President of Youth & Pre-Professional Properties. “The Soccer Syndicate will act as a valuable resource for USL Championship and League One clubs within the scouting and talent identification space. It will also allow players within USL League Two the opportunity to be identified for a professional pathway opportunity during the season.”

Through the USL League Two Scouting Network presented by The Soccer Syndicate, players at clubs across League Two will be evaluated for professional potential. The USL and The Soccer Syndicate will work in collaboration to identify players for a Top 50 Prospect List which will be shared internally with USL Championship and USL League One technical staffs.

In-depth scouting reports on USL League Two Top Prospects will also be available to USL Championship and League One clubs via The Soccer Syndicate’s service, as will scouting reports on top youth and collegiate players. The USL and The Soccer Syndicate will also team up to produce the USL League Two ‘Top Performing Players’ every 3-4 weeks throughout the season, which will be shared and distributed through USL League Two digital/social channels.

The partnership between the USL and The Soccer Syndicate will expand in 2024, which will see the introduction of the USL W League Scouting Network presented by The Soccer Syndicate. As on the men’s side, The Soccer Syndicate will offer clubs in the new USL Super League the same opportunities to gain insights on professional prospects competing in the USL W League during the 2024 campaign.

“USL League Two has been the longstanding proving ground for top men’s pre-professional players in North America, and the W League’s success since its launch has seen it fulfill the same role in the women’s pre-professional game,” said Rezendes. “We are looking forward to helping put a spotlight on the next waves of talent coming out of both leagues and help connect them to opportunities to carry their careers forward in the USL Championship, League One and Super League.”

More than 40 players that competed in the USL W League in the 2022 season are now playing in the professional ranks, while USL League Two alumni featured for 2022 MLS Cup winner Los Angeles FC, 2022 USL Championship title winner San Antonio FC, 2022 USL League One title winner South Georgia Tormenta FC, and also competed for professional clubs in Europe during the current domestic club season.
