The USL W League announced on Friday its Team of the Month for May, honoring the league's top performers between May 6, 2023 and June 6 as the regular season campaign passed its midway point.

Eleven different clubs are represented in the lineup, including captain Tianna Harris of Minnesota Aurora FC, who played every minutes as the 2022 W League Finalists recorded four consecutive shutouts to start their 2023 campaign while also notching a pair of goals. 

GK: Bailey Herfurth, TBU - Tampa Bay United’s starting goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth has help led her team to the top of the Southeast Division with an undefeated start. The LSU Tiger has only allowed one goal in nearly 500 minutes of play.  

D: Grace Pettet, Racing Louisville FC - The Mizzou standout has been an anchor on Racing Louisville’s backline this season, having only allowed three goals. Pettet has also scored a goal, from the backline, helping lead her team to second place in the Valley Division. 

D: Tianna Harris, Minnesota Aurora FC - Minnesota’s incredible start to the season has been in part to the steadfast defense the team has put together and leading that charge is former Kent State defender Tianna Harris. The Aurora has only allowed one goal in five matches. Harris has also contributed two goals from the backline. 

D: Elle Piper, SF Glens SC - Piper has played a key role for the SF Glens, who have locked down the number one spot in the last three Power Rankings. The Duke Blue Devil has amassed nearly 350 minutes and has also tacked on a goal from the offensive end for the Glens so far. 

M: Margaret "Meg" Tate, Eagle FC - Tate has been a huge contributing factor to Eagle FC’s strong start to the season, leading the team to the first-place spot in the Mid-Atlantic division. Tate has scored seven goals for Eagle, the most on the team. 

M: Mackenzie Smith, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC - University of Tennessee Chattanooga midfielder Smith has led the Red Wolves to the top of the table in the South Central Division. Smith has started in every match for the Red Wolves and tallied three goals. 

M: Mia Oliaro, NC Courage - The incoming UNC Tarheel and U.S. youth international has led the Courage to the top of the table in the South Atlantic Division. Oliaro currently leads the team in goals-scored with four.  

M: Isabella Gaetino, Flint City AFC – The UNC Tarheel commit has started every match for Flint City and has tallied five goals across all matches for the team. Gaetino’s long-range strike from the top of the box was voted the first Goal of the Week this season.  

F: Alexis Brewah, Stockton Cargo SC – Brewah has taken the NorCal Division by storm, scoring eight goals in just seven matches for the Cargo. Stockton currently sits in fourth place in the highly competitive division, with Brewah leading the offensive charge. 

F: Lia Howard, Long Island Rough Riders – The Illinois Illini has scored an impressive eight goals in five matches for the Rough Riders, leading them to the top of the Metropolitan table. Howard, as it stands, is tied with Stockton’s Brewah for second place in the Golden Boot race.  

F: Baylee DeSmit, Christos FC – The Loyola standout currently leads the W League in goals scored, having found the back of the net 12 times for Christos FC already this season and has scored in every match she has appeared.
