The USL W League announced on Monday its first official awards for the 2023 regular season with a standout season by Christos FC forward Baylee Desmit earning Golden Boot and Tampa Bay United’s Bailey Herfurth earning Golden Glove.
Christos FC’s returning forward Baylee Desmit had a record-breaking season recording 21 regular season goals, which is five more goals than last season’s Golden Boot winner Amy Andrews (16 goals).
Desmit, who plays collegiately at Loyola, accomplished the feat in 11 matches, including two five-goal matches and four braces throughout the regular season. In addition to her consistent scoring, Baylee was also a valuable playmaker adding six assists for the Maryland-based team.
Tampa Bay United’s Bailey Herfurth earned the 2023 Golden Glove award with an impressive .096 goals against average. Herfurth only allowed one goal in her 936 minutes of play during the regular season. TBU was the only team to allow only a single goal all season.
The LSU Tiger helped lead TBU to 11 clean sheets during the regular season, as well as the top spot in the Southeast Division.
The Golden Boot and Golden Glove are the first two regular season awards the USL W League was announced for the 2023 season. The W League's Assists Champion, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Divisional Players of the Year will be announced later this week.
