SF Glens’ Nádia Gomes named USL W League Player of the Year

Gomes' impact felt on and off the field for the Glens

TAMPA, Fla. - San Francisco Glens SC’s Nádia Gomes has been named the 2023 USL W League Player of the Year.  

The Viseu, Portugal native was unstoppable during the regular and post-season, scoring 16 goals and recording eight assists for the Glens. Her goalscoring and leadership on-field helped lead the team to being crowded the Western Conference Champions and to an appearance in the W League Semifinals in the club’s first season of play. Additionally, the Glens sat atop the Power Rankings for five consecutive weeks during the regular season. 

Gomes played collegiately at BYU and during her time there she earned WCC Player of the Year and NSCAA All-America third team honors. In addition, Gomes has represented Portugal at the U-19 and senior team levels. In 2018, Gomes was drafted by the Orlando Pride and subsequently signed as a National Team Replacement Player.  

During the regular season, Gomes earned W League Team of the Month honors in June. After the conclusion of the season, she was selected as the NorCal Divisional Player of the Year and also named to the Team of the Year - First Team.
