TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League today announced the addition of the Charlotte Eagles as the newest expansion team set to take the field in 2024.

The Charlotte Eagles have been a member of the USL, since the early 1990’s and have had teams in virtually every level and platform offered. The Eagles began in USL, but has grown to include a vibrant youth club, innovative Early Development program, college campus outreach, and the world-changing Urban Eagles mission that has coaches live in underserved communities using soccer to build community and impact lives. The Charlotte Eagles has an expanding footprint in Charlotte and beyond, working on “Playing a game to change the world”.

"We believe in the transformational power of relationships that flourish in the global environment of soccer,” Cliff Wright, Executive Director of the Charlotte Eagles, said. “We are thrilled to be adding USL W League and USL Academy for girls to the Charlotte Eagles to create more spaces in more places for the ladies and girls of Charlotte to grow."

The Charlotte Eagles will also have a girls team playing in USL Academy League for the first time. These teams will exist alongside their men's teams, who compete in South Atlantic Division of USL League Two and USL Academy League as the Charlotte Eagles.

The Charlotte Eagles focus is on empowering players as leaders through the global environment of soccer and allowing their players to grow spiritually as well as professionally.
