DENVER, Colo. – Today, USL announced that Colorado Storm is set to make its debut in USL W League in 2024.

The Colorado Storm name has been a staple in Colorado soccer since 1967 and is being re-introduced as the face of the highest level of women’s soccer in the state.

"The USL W League offers an elite level of competition, providing an enhanced pathway to professionalism for our players,” said Danny Bills, Colorado Storm Women General Manager. “By joining this league, we become part of the country's fastest-growing women's pre-professional league, aligning ourselves with a dynamic and forward-thinking community.”

Colorado Storm Women began competitive play in 2019 and saw nearly immediate success, as they went 23-3-2 between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Since 2021, the team has been one of the country's most successful and winning teams in all pre-professional women’s soccer. Multiple top-level professionals have already come from the organization and are currently playing all over the country and the world.

Now, the club is taking the leap into the W League to compete against the best talent in the region and advance women’s soccer by providing a clear pathway to professionalism for Colorado-based players.

“As someone who has previously worked in the USL, I am excited about the opportunity to elevate women’s soccer through our participation in the USL W League,” said Sebastian Giraldo, Colorado Storm Women Head Coach. “We continue to have high expectations and objectives for our team, individual athletes, and staff. Playing in the W League gives us a top platform to continue proving ourselves as one of the best clubs in the country.”

Colorado Storm will play in the Mountain Division in 2024, alongside Albion SC Colorado, CISA, Flatirons FC, and Northern Colorado Rain FC.
