We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the 2024 W League season, and the competition is heating up. Last week, we saw multiple thrilling performances that either shook up division standings or further cemented who’s at the top of the pack.
Here’s a look back at some of the biggest storylines from Week 5:
Minnesota Aurora’s Mariah Nguyen put on a show in front of 5,092 fans during the club's home opener on Thursday. The forward scored two goals in the first half and headed in her third of the night in the 57th minute. She also added two assists to contribute to five of Aurora’s seven goals, earning their second win of the season.

Eagle FC and Colorado Storm are the only two clubs to win every match during the first half of the season without letting in a single goal. Multiple goalkeepers have suited up for both clubs, but they all have protected the net. Eagle has outscored its opponents 20-0, while Colorado Storm has gone 24-0. Both clubs sit atop their respective divisions.
The standings in the NorCal Division are constantly changing, especially between the current top three teams of California Storm, Oakland Soul and SF Glens. Last weekend, Oakland pulled off two 3-2 wins, including one against the Glens, to move up a spot. The Storm have earned two road victories to stay at No. 1. All three clubs will face each other one more time this month, so playoff implications could come down to the wire.

Florida Elite Soccer Academy has started the 2024 season with six straight wins; the club had only seven wins in the last two W League seasons combined. FESA has a +39 goal differential, and four different players are in the top 10 in the Golden Boot race. With four matches left, can Florida Elite earn its first perfect season?
