FC Olympia, Long Island move up after big wins

The final power rankings of this season look a little different from last week after a few wild results shook up the standings.  

FC Olympia defeated divisional rival United PDX to become the sole undefeated team in the Northwest. Long Island also earned a critical win against Morris Elite to return to the top of the Metropolitan Division. Florida Elite, Detroit City and AHFC Royals come in the top three for the second week in a row.

Florida Elite capped off its perfect season with two more wins last week to finish 12-0-0. The team concluded the regular season with nine shutouts and outscored its opponents 73 goals to six. Whichever team faces Florida Elite in the Conference Semifinals will have their work cut out for them.

Detroit City recorded back-to-back wins last weekend to further extend its lead over the Great Lakes Division. Two first-half goals from Kayla Addison and Tatiana Mason secured a huge 2-0 victory against Kalamazoo FC and put Detroit City one win away from clinching a spot in the playoffs.
3 AHFC Royals

Next match: vs. AC Houston Sur, 6/20 7:00 p.m. CT

Last Week:

The Royals are closing in on recording a perfect season after defeating AC Houston Sur 5-0 last weekend. Adelhia Ghonda and Selena Brooker both recorded braces and Cambria Privett scored her first of the season. The Royals will close out the regular season at home on Saturday.

The Artesians picked up a massive three points after taking down United PDX 4-2. Four different scorers contributed to the result, including a flawless free kick from Columbia’s Maia Tabion. FC Olympia also has the opportunity to clinch the division and playoff spot this week.

When the Rough Riders faced Morris Elite earlier this summer, they gave up a two-goal lead and drew 2–2. This time, they held that advantage and defended their home field to win 2-0 and take back the top spot of the Metropolitan Division. With two matches remaining, Long Island needs to keep that form to secure its playoff spot.

Tennessee remains undefeated after picking up two strong wins last week against Athens United and Greenville Liberty. Auburn midfielder Anna Haddock had the lone goal to defeat Greenville in Tennessee’s last home match of the season. The team has a chance to clinch the South Central playoff spot on Wednesday.

NC Courage has found its stride and has won its last nine matches, most recently in a dominant showing against Fayetteville Fury. Macey Bader, forward at UNC Charlotte, leads the way with six goals. The team will look to secure its playoff spot this week for the South Atlantic Division.

Minnesota Aurora closed out its three-match homestand with back-to-back victories over Bavarian United and Chicago City. Stanford alum Katelyn Duong has been on a hot streak, scoring in five straight matches, many of them strikes and free kicks from outside the box. Aurora is heading toward its third consecutive postseason, with the opportunity to clinch this week

California Storm also remains undefeated through 10 matches and most recently held NorCal leader SF Glens to a scoreless draw on the road on Sunday. The Storm is in a tight race at the top of the division, one point behind the Glens and three ahead of Oakland Soul, which has a game in hand. The team needs to grab all six of its remaining points to maintain control of its postseason destiny.

Right behind the Storm is SF Glens, which earned its first draw of the season on Sunday. The Glens also have two matches remaining with its last one at third-place Oakland Soul. Like last season, the NorCal Division winner and wild card bid might come down to the wire again.
