USL W League announces 2024 Divisional Players of the Year

Twelve players recognized after stellar 2024 performances

A standout player from each of the W League’s twelve divisions has been chosen as their respective division’s Divisional Player of the Year. Statistics mentioned include both regular season and postseason play.   

The USL W League Divisional Players of the Year were selected based on individual player performances throughout the summer and nominations from W League coaches.  

Later this week the W League will announce the 2024 Team of the Year First Team and Second Team and the 2024 W League Player of the Year. 

2024 Divisional Players of the Year

Great Lakes: Gabby Schriver (Detroit City FC) - This season’s Golden Glove winner was the anchor of Detroit City’s defense. Schriver posted a goals-against average of 0.294 in the regular season, and she helped the group to its first playoff berth and a strong postseason run all the way to the National Semifinal. 

Heartland: Katie Duong (Minnesota Aurora FC) - Former Stanford star Katie Duong was one of Minnesota Aurora’s key players as they completed a third-straight undefeated season. Duong finished the campaign with nine goals and 11 assists, scoring in eight straight matches to end the season before joining USL Super League club DC Power FC. 

Valley: Ella Rogers (Indy Eleven) - Captain Ella Rogers led 2023 W League champions Indy Eleven to another great season. The midfielder recorded six goals in 11 matches, totaling 796 minutes of play, the most on the team. 

Mid Atlantic: Ryelle Shuey (Lancaster Inferno) - In her first season in the W League, Lancaster Inferno defender Ryelle Shuey made her presence known on the field. She recorded 1170 minutes played, one goal and one assist from the backline. 

Metropolitan: Lucianna Setteducate (Long Island Rough Riders) - Stony Brook striker Luciana Setteducate was another player who had an impressive debut season in the W League. The Golden Boot winner scored 19 goals in the regular and postseason and helped the Rough Riders earn their first playoff win in league history. 

South Atlantic: Kayleigh Herr (NC Courage U23) - Captain Kayleigh Herr ended another great season by lifting the trophy this year with NC Courage U23. The Penn State centerback scored five goals and saw over 1200 minutes of action throughout the regular and postseason. 

South Central: Anna Haddock (Tennessee SC) - Auburn standout Anna Haddock had another incredible season with Tennessee SC this summer. The midfielder finished the campaign with 11 goals and 11 assists, helping the team make it all the way to the National Semifinal. 

Southeast: Georgia Brown (Florida Elite Soccer Academy) - The 2024 Defender of the Year put on a show in the Southeast Division this year. Georgia Brown helped the team in recording eight shutouts and a perfect 12-0-0 record while also finding the back of the net nine times. 

Lone Star: Zoe Main (AHFC Royals) - AHFC Royals were the other team to finish with a perfect record (10-0-0), and midfielder Zoe Main played a large part in the accomplishment. The Mississippi State Bulldog led the Royals with eight goals and started all 11 matches played. 

Northwest: McKenna Martinez (FC Olympia) - Oregon State striker McKenna Martinez finished a remarkable season with FC Olympia, which took home the Northwest Division title for a second straight year. Martinez netted eight goals in the nine matches played, including a goal in the 2-1 win over Oakland Soul in the first round of the playoffs. 

NorCal: Alyssa Bourgeois (California Storm) - Before heading to Spokane Zephyr in the USL Super League, Alyssa Bourgeois had a great spell with California Storm. The outside back started eight matches and tallied two goals and 720 minutes played. 

Mountain: Alexis Meyer (Colorado Storm) - The 18-year-old was holding down the midfield for Colorado Storm from the opening match to the 2024 W League Final. Meyer recorded over 1100 minutes on the pitch and helped the expansion club to a phenomenal regular and postseason run.
