San Juan Capistrano, Ca. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League today announced that Capistrano FC is expanding to field a USL W League team set to begin competing in the 2025 season. The club joined USL League Two in 2024.
Capistrano FC, or “Capo FC”, was founded in 2006 with a goal of building strong players on the foundation of good character and a reliable work ethic, seen as key qualities for success both on and off the field. The club focuses on teaching fundamental life skills alongside intelligent play, attributing their success to the collective drive, skill and intelligence of their players.
“Capo is thrilled to announce our participation in the USL W League, providing an incredible opportunity for our female soccer players to match the success of our USL League Two men’s program,” said the club’s leadership group. “We are excited to strengthen the pathway for our players from youth development all the way to the professional level. The W League will play a vital role in providing growth for our female
athletes, and we cannot wait for the upcoming season.”
Capo FC will play its home matches in San Juan Capistrano, California, in the W League’s Western Conference.
“Capo has already shown great commitment to the development of soccer in the San Juan Capistrano area, and now extending this opportunity into the women’s side of the game exemplifies that commitment even further,” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “Although the club has only recently joined the USL ecosystem, their dedication and initiative to the expansion of the sport is impressive, and we are extremely happy to see them join the W League in 2025.”
