Buffalo, NY & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that FC Buffalo will join the USL W League for the 2025 season. The club previously joined USL League Two in 2023.

FC Buffalo was founded in 2009 as a men’s pre-professional team before launching its women’s side in 2021. The club, also known as the Blitzers, is committed to its vision to serve, inspire, and showcase the city of Buffalo through competitive soccer, while striving to elevate the production of young talent in Western New York.

"FC Buffalo is honored to join the USL W League for the 2025 season,” said club Co-Owner Nick Mendola. “The USL's work in the women's game has been an inspiration, and our club's ability to join this exciting set-up keeps us on our path to serve the game in our city. It's an invitation we're humbled to receive, and we eagerly accept the challenge.”

The club is heavily involved in the community through initiatives such as its “City United” and “Change Kits” programs, providing supplies and opportunities for local players, aiming to develop and showcase the talent in the Buffalo area.

Key leaders of the club include Women’s Director Liz Mantel and the women’s first team Head Coach Nikki Bartholomew, both known for their work with charitable causes and nonprofits in the community. FC Buffalo alumni include Portuguese international Kelsey Araujo and Waniya Hudson, who is currently on loan playing for USL Super League club Dallas Trinity FC.

FC Buffalo will play its home matches at All-High Stadium in Buffalo, New York, as a member of the Central Conference.

“FC Buffalo has taken great strides to create an impact in the Buffalo area, so we’re happy to see the club expand into the W League,” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “Having FC Buffalo join the W League in its monumental 15th year as a club is very exciting and further proves the club’s dedication to providing a highly competitive and developmental environment to all its players.”
