Sioux Falls, SD & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Sioux Falls City FC will join the USL W League for the 2025 season.

Sioux Falls City FC was founded in 2022 as the first pre-professional women’s soccer team in South Dakota with a mission of inspiring and empowering women athletes. The club’s belief in creating a platform where women can thrive, push boundaries and challenge stereotypes is bolstered by its key values of authenticity, integrity, purpose and a culture centered on inclusivity and player support.

“Since Sioux Falls City FC's inception, we have aimed to excel and do right by our team and our city,” said Emily Thomas, SFCFC Owner. “We look forward to working with the W League, and we're committed to bringing our authentic Sioux Falls spirit to this new chapter.”

Sioux Falls City FC is a club owned by women, run by women, in service of women athletes, providing a place to play at an elite level. The club’s initiative in elevating women’s soccer in South Dakota is seen by its support in continuing soccer education for women coaches in Sioux Falls, including club coach Hailee Fischer, and alumni playing professionally and internationally.

The club shows its commitment to serving its community and its players by dedicating each home match to a cause chosen by the team, participating in community events like walking in the Sioux Falls Pride parade and partnering with local organizations such as the Sioux Falls Humane Society, Call to Freedom and the Sioux Falls School District food pantry.

“We are grateful for the invitation from the USL W League and the opportunity to continue challenging ourselves as a club,” said Joe DeMay, SFCFC Sporting Director. “In the past three years, USL W and SFCFC have each demonstrated high levels of ambition and success, so everything points to this being a natural fit."

Sioux Falls City FC will play its home matches at Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a member of the Heartland Division.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sioux Falls City FC to the W League,” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “SFCFC's dedication to supporting its athletes and women’s soccer as a whole in the state of South Dakota is inspiring, and we look forward to seeing their passionate community support the team next summer."
