Carlsbad, Calif. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Southern California Dutch Lions FC will join the USL W League for the 2025 season. The team is the newest Dutch Lions FC club and second to join the W League following Chicago City Dutch Lions.

Dutch Lions FC was founded in 2009, striving to enhance the growth of young men and women both on and off the pitch. It focuses on tactical and technical development using mostly Dutch UEFA licensed coaches and training methods, the use of video analysis and top facilities while also creating a professional environment, from the season program to nutrition, work ethic and contributing to a team performance.

“Dutch Lions FC is proud to add another W League team to our organization in an area that has so many talented young female players looking to develop and showcase themselves to become professional soccer players,” said Mike Mossel, CEO. “Together with the USL, we want to play a leading role in providing more opportunities for these talents through quality programs and our extensive network.”

The club is involved in each of its communities, participating in activations from youth soccer clinics to school visits. More than 80 former Dutch Lions players have gone to play professionally, and the Southern California Dutch Lions also has had former staff members join professional organizations from MLS, NWSL and U.S. Youth National teams.

Southern California Dutch Lions FC will play its home matches at La Costa Canyon High School located in Carlsbad, California, as a member of the Western Conference.

“Dutch Lions FC’s approach and commitment to developing its players into well-rounded athletes is extremely inspiring,” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “The Southern California region has become a hotbed for soccer talent, so we’re excited to bring the club into the W League and provide a platform for its players to compete at an elite level.”
