San Antonio, TX & Tampa, Fla. — The United Soccer League announced today that Lonestar Soccer Club is expanding its presence in the USL W League with the addition of Lonestar San Antonio. This expansion complements the club’s existing USL W League team in Austin, furthering Lonestar’s commitment to providing a premier pathway for female players to develop and progress into the pre-professional ranks.

“We’re more than excited to bring the USL W League to San Antonio, furthering our commitment to the development of our players,” said Brian Monaghan, Executive Director of Lonestar Soccer Club. “The Alliance partnership allows us to provide our female players with a pre-professional pathway that bridges the gap between youth development and the professional game. With the resources, coaching, and exposure offered by the USL W League in San Antonio, we cannot wait to watch our players take the next step in their careers.”

For years, Lonestar SC has helped female athletes advance to the next level, especially in collegiate soccer. The club regularly hosts College ID Clinics and Showcases for players to be scouted by coaches from multiple divisions. Players receive an individual development plan (IDP) tailored to their needs, highlight reel assistance, and support from the college placement staff through consultations and seminars. With the addition of Lonestar San Antonio and the USL W League, the club is excited to offer another great opportunity—a direct pathway into the pre-professional ranks.

This partnership not only enhances the club's visibility but also helps attract high-level players and provides more opportunities for athletes to progress into the pre-professional ranks. With the professional structure and exposure of the USL W League, players will benefit from increased development, competition, and the chance to play at an elite level.

Lonestar San Antonio will play as a member of the Lone Star Division in the Southern Conference.

“Welcoming Lonestar San Antonio to the W League is an exciting step as we continue to expand our footprint in Texas,” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “With their long-standing reputation for developing talent and their dedication to the growth of the game, Lonestar San Antonio will be a fantastic addition to the league."
