Fort Lauderdale, Fla. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Fort Lauderdale United FC will join USL W League and USL League Two in 2025.
FTL UTD is one of the eight clubs competing in the USL Super League’s inaugural season, which began play in August 2024. This summer the club will expand and offer pre-professional teams to their community, establishing a path to pro for girls and women in South Florida.
“Expanding into the USL W League and USL League Two is a monumental step as we continue our mission to build something truly special for soccer in South Florida,” said Tommy Smith, Owner.
Both teams will play their home matches at Beyond Bancard Field at Nova Southeastern University (NSU Florida). The new soccer-specific stadium is also the home of the club’s Super League team.
This expansion furthers the club’s mission to extend opportunities in soccer to people in the Fort Lauderdale community. Establishing this pathway gives more players a chance to play elite soccer, with a direct line to a professional club.
Fort Lauderdale United FC will compete in the Southeast Division in both W League and League Two in 2025.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Fort Lauderdale United FC to our pre-professional leagues,” Joel Nash, Senior VP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, said. “They’re clearly defining the pathway for players in their community and providing opportunities for even more elite talent to play at a high level.”
