The USL W League announced on Monday the first of many awards for the 2025 regular season. Texas Christian University forward Seven Castain earned the Golden Boot after scoring 17 goals for Utah United.
“I’m super grateful that I was given a platform and a league where I could improve and work on the things that will make me successful in the fall,” Castain said. “My team gave me the ability to be successful by always creating good chances and finding me in those critical moments. I couldn’t have scored any of those goals without them.
“The training environment that Utah United provided also kept me sharp throughout the summer and challenged me every day. As a whole, the summer experience was awesome, and I'm just thankful for the opportunity to grow every single day with amazing people next to me. I'm excited to see how it translates into my final college season.”
Castain started seven of nine matches this season, totaling 531 minutes played to help Utah United to a 9-1-0 record and a Mountain Division title. Her 17 goals accounted for over a quarter of Utah’s league-high 61 goals this season. The forward scored three more goals in the team’s first two playoff matches, leading Utah to the National Semifinals in its first W League season.
Castain was recently named the Player of the Month for June after recording 10 goals during the month, including scoring a brace in the win against Flatirons FC on the 26th to secure the team’s spot in the playoffs.
Stay tuned for later this week when the W League's Golden Glove, Young Player of the Year, Defender of the Year, and Coach of the Year will be announced.
