The Golden Boot winner led Utah to league title in first year

Tampa, FL – Seven Castain was announced today as the 2025 USL W League Player of the Year after her remarkable season with Utah United this summer.

The forward from Draper, UT, won the 2025 Golden Boot after scoring 17 goals during the regular season. Castain recorded a brace on four separate occasions, as well as a six-goal effort against CISA in Utah’s largest win of the season.

Castain added an additional four goals during the playoffs to bring her season total to 21 goals. She scored both goals in the 2-1 win against FC Olympia and converted from the penalty spot in the 2-0 victory over Stockton Cargo SC in the conference rounds. Her final goal came in the second half of the 2025 W League Final, helping Utah United to the league title in its inaugural season.

“Seven plays with a natural confidence in front of the goal,” said Club President Jerry Pennock. “She makes runs that make it challenging to defend.  When she’s on the field, you just know she’s going to find a way to score, and it energizes the team.”

Castain finished the season with 10 starts in 12 appearances, totaling 788 minutes on the field. The striker earned multiple honors in her first W League season, including Player of the Month for June, Mountain Division Player of the Year and she was named to the All-League First Team.

Castain plays collegiately at Texas Christian University and is headed into her senior season with the Horned Frogs. She was named to the All-Big 12 First Team in 2024 and 2023 as well as the Big 12 All-Freshmen Team in 2022.
