Spokane Zephyr FC today named Nicole Lukic as its head coach, effective immediately.  

“I am honored to be named the Head Coach of Spokane Zephyr FC,” Lukic said. “The opportunity to guide this team in a community that so deeply supports the game is truly special. I look forward to building on the foundation already in place and continuing to grow a team that Spokane will be proud of—one that competes with passion, excellence, and integrity.” 

Lukic cemented herself in USL history following her successful tenure with USL W League side Minnesota Aurora FC from 2022-2023.  Making a statement in her first year as Head Coach with Minnesota, Lukic guided the team to an undefeated regular season (11-0-1), leading to the 2022 W League Final. Lukic’s leadership and ability to foster an uplifting club culture earned her the 2022 USL W League Coach of the Year Award.  

Lukic's role with Aurora was expanded to both Head Coach and Sporting Director in 2023, where she led the club to a second-consecutive undefeated regular season (12-0-0) and a second Heartland Division title. Additionally, seven Minnesota Aurora players went on to sign professional contracts during Lukic’s time with the club. 

Lukic joins Spokane Zephyr from U.S. Soccer, where she served as Director of Talent Identification for the Youth National Teams, working closely with Emma Hayes and the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team staff to find and develop the country’s top young talent. 

Spokane Zephyr currently sits in third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings and aims to extend its four-match undefeated streak this Sunday against Dallas Trinity FC.
