San Marcos, TX & Tampa, FL—The United Soccer League announced today that the Hill Country Linces are set to join the USL W League in 2026. The club’s men’s team, the Hill Country Lobos, previously joined USL League Two in 2024.
The club was originally founded in 1996 as Galaxia SC, beginning as an outreach project for unaccompanied minors through the nonprofit immigration work of club founder, David Walding. In 2016, the club was renamed Hill Country Lobos to reflect the spirit of the wolfpack and the club's mission: unity, teamwork, and strength in diversity. The club strives to provide accessible, high-level soccer opportunities for players of all backgrounds while fostering community connection and pride in the Hill Country.
“As a club, we’re proud to be launching the Hill Country Linces and joining the USL W League, especially knowing we’re building this team from the ground up,” said Hill Country Lobos President David Walding. “For all of us at Hill Country Lobos, this is not just adding another team, it is creating something new together with our community. The players, the staff, and everyone involved are putting real heart into this, and we’re excited to see the Linces grow into a team our whole region can stand behind.”
Uplifting its five key values of community impact and engagement, opportunities for youth and immigrants, diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainability and long-term growth, and competitive excellence, Hill Country Lobos is committed to removing financial and social barriers to participation. To that end, the club hosts soccer camps, clinics, and outreach programs designed to introduce the sport to new players and strengthen community ties. Furthermore, the club’s Lobos Immigration Project initiative supports immigrant families by connecting them with designated immigration services.
The club will play their home matches at San Marcos Academy as a part of the Lone Star Division.
