Leesburg-based club to provide high-caliber playing opportunities for female players

LEESBURG, Va. & TAMPA, Fl. - The United Soccer League announced today that Loudoun United FC will launch a USL W League team beginning in the 2026 season.

In April 2025 USL Championship club Loudoun United merged with prominent youth soccer organization Virginia Revolution Soccer Club with the goal of fostering a complete player pathway to the professional ranks. Under the partnership, Loudoun United announced last month the addition of a USL League Two side that will also kick off in 2026. The club’s mission is to become the premier professional sports and entertainment organization in Northern Virginia, with a focus on game-day experience, fostering community partnerships, and contributing to the growth of soccer in the region.

“Joining W League strengthens the pathway we have in place and give our top youth players and local college talent a proper summer platform to train and compete at a pre-professional level,” said Karl Sharman, President of Loudoun United. “For us, this is not simply about putting another team on the pitch. It reflects our commitment to building a fair and meaningful pathway for both the men’s and women’s game, making full use of our facilities, and continuing to push Loudoun United forward as a club with real purpose and intent in the USL system.”

Loudoun United amplifies its core principles of community, commitment, and pride. The club frequently works with local nonprofits, such as Veterans Moving Forward and the Loudoun First Responders Foundation, with the goal of impacting the Northern Virginia community both on and off the field.

“The DMV has a strong track record of developing elite women’s talent, and the addition of a W League team under an ownership group like Loudoun’s will provide top-level players with a valuable platform to showcase their skills during the summer,” said Joel Nash, USL Senior Vice President of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “We look forward to seeing the community’s passionate supporters come together behind the team this season.”

Loudoun United will compete in the Mid Atlantic Division and play its home matches at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia
